Some Surprising Facts about Curacao You May Not Know

You may have heard about Blue Curacao which is the glossy blue drink popularly enjoyed in the past but it is not popular today somehow. Did you heard about Curacao? Also known as Dutch Antilles, ABC Island is a collection of three islands – Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. Here are few aspects of Curacao tours you may not be familiar with.

Central or South America – It Still has a Confusion
Curacao is located just 60 km from Venezuelan coastlines but it is still under the territory of Central America. Since 2010, Curacao is considered as a sovereign country and lies in the Netherlands.

Curacao is full of Colors
If have seen some photos of this island, the most colorful ones may be of Willemstad. This is because it is Curacao’s culturally colorful province. The vivid houses of Willemstad have very surprising and interesting history and belong to Governor Kikert in two different versions told by the locals –
a.      Some told that governor spends most of his mornings getting the views of the city on mountains and thought why all houses are white. White walls were reflecting sunlight to him because it is not a color. Thereafter, he decided that all the houses should be painted in different colors.
b.      Others told that governor had largest amount of shares of paint industry. So ordered to paint all the houses. Due to which he became very rich. When he died, Dutch Government agreed that he belonged to paint industry.

Waters in Curacao
The residents of Dutch Antilles are superstitious. They offer waters for different things at the Willemstad’s local markets, for ex, water for money, water for love, water for good luck and so on. These waters have detergents and are widely sold all along the island.

When it comes to use them, all you have to mop your floor with these waters. For example, if you mop your floor with waters for money, they recommend use these waters in evening, morning and afternoon. The logic behind cleaning the shop with these waters is simple. When you mop with it, floor smells really nice and looks very clean. Hence, people will love visiting your shop and you will sell more and earn more.

Curacao – The Landscape
Apart from being a normal island in the Caribbean, Curacao is a small piece of land that came out from the Caribbean ocean by the movement of three tectonic plates about millions of years ago. Unlike other Caribbean islands which were formed because of volcanic eruption and have fertile soil, lands of Curacao are not so fertile due to which they mostly have dry vegetation. Due to limited soil and scarcity of space, a lot of fruits come from Venezuela.

Curacao mostly receives dry climate but it has very stunning white sandy beaches, rough landscapes and amazing views of fusion of currents and waves in the island.
